Visual Metaphors

Filed under: Effects on our Generation —— spoorthitata @ 12:44 pm

1. It would show smashing and tearing of items that represent our environment. The smashing and tearing would come from what is causing global warming.
2. It would show a butterfly flying freely representing “today’s environment” and then a slide saying “this is our due to global warming” and a slowly dying butterfly.
3. Hairspray released in the environment, smoking, car emishions for air polluction.
4. Land development, land fills, destroying natural resources and wasting land space.
5. A plastic cup representing the ozone layer and a person smahing it to represent how were affecting it.

I think #1 is the most effective because it shows how even the smallest things can cause a change in our life.

After reading your comments I could visualize the destruction that global warming can cause. I was the most taken a back by the butterfly scenario. I feel strongly that it is our responsibility to do something now about global warming, so our future generations have a place to live and thrive. I do not even want to imagine what the effects of global warming will have on people, if it is possible that it could make that kind of impact on a butterfly.

Good start! What kind of “items” would you smash? How could you make sure the audience understands that these items are supposed to be representative of the earth?

#1 seems the most fun to film as well! What would you have people smash? What would you have people tear? Can you think of music that might play in the background?

I really like the idea of smashing the cup. It’s suttle, yet in your face at the same time.

  6.   princessbelle025 Says:

Sorry, I had a typo there. It should say “subtle” in the second sentence!

I like all the ideas that our group came up with but we decided to go with an idea Corrine came up with where we take Hollister bag representing our precious Earth and it being stepped on by a person with muddy shoes. The Hollister bag goes great because Hollister is a top brand of clothing that a lot of teenagers wear and the metaphor shows how even though the Earth is such a great place to live, we take life on Earth as being normal and changes occurring normal.
